When Nicolas Feuillatte was looking for a unique package to showcase its champagne for the 2005 holiday season, they decided to use holography to create a package that would make its brand standout in a category known for its stunning packages. What makes this package unique though, is the innovative way that the holographic film is incorporated into the package.
To develop this metal container, CFC International developed a special holographic film that is laminated directly on steel plate. Laminating to hot steel plate, while keeping the holographic image bright and colorful is a difficult process, but the result is a stunning, sophisticated champagne canister. Nicolas Feuillatte’s innovative package is not only catching the eyes of consumers, it also caught the eyes of BrandPackaging’s editors who deemed the package one of the most innovative packages in 2005. As a result of this package’s structural innovation and graphical appeal it was also included in BrandPackaging’s Design Gallery – Packaging That Sells (Vol. 3) book.
The Nicolas Feuillatte canister is a good example of how holography, when incorporated into the overall package design, can produce a dramatic and strikingly beautiful package. It’s not often that a simple design element can be so flexible in its use, and so remarkable in its effectiveness. Because holography allows you to add an additional dimension of distinctiveness to your package design, it differentiates itself from others on the shelf.
The Nicolas Feuillatte holographic canister also received the Holography News Awards for Excellence 2005 for best Promotion/Illustration award from the International Holographic Manufacturers Association (IHMA).
